Something a bit different than my typical post, an old colleague of mine from my reporting days contacted me about doing a portrait of him for the Asian American Journalists Association’s “Men of Broadcasting” calendar. His vision was to merge his work with his play, so we decided to have him in his suit on an old school basketball court surrounded by a chain-link fence, as well as a few urban style portraits on the streets of Denver’s Santa Fe Art District. A group of kids were gracious enough to let us steal their court for the shoot which drew a bit of a crowd and made KDVR’s Chris Jose a celebrity with the basketball loving kids of the neighborhood. One of the little guys told us that it would have been a much more realistic shoot if Chris had been wearing a basketball jersey… I don’t think he understood our artistic vision
Enjoy!
